Yes, Ali does go in to schools. And the wonder of it is… they even invite her BACK!
I visit on average about 40 schools a year (and climbing!) so I COULD be at yours. Going into schools is a big part of many authors' lives (when they write for school age readers).
To begin with it was terrifying. Well, how would YOU feel about standing up in front of 500 people and talking for an hour? But these days I love it. It's not just me talking anyway - everyone gets involved and there's a lot silly stuff to get involved WITH. And a big green case of props. And lots of signed postcards…
For teachery info you can check out www.contactanauthor.co.uk or just email me direct for my notes. I will need to know: |
I only send this info to teachers or librarians, so if you're an enthusiastic pupil or student you need to nudge a teacher or librarian into doing this. If, despite calling yourself Mrs Hortense Grimsby, head teacher, aged 55, I think you’re actually ten, I will just send you a big smiley - because I love that you tried! :-) |
