FROZEN IN TIME IS BLUE PETER BOOK OF THE YEAR

Ali’s first stand alone novel has won two Blue Peter Children’s Book Awards.

Up against Cosmic by Frank Cottrell Boyce and The Boy Who Fell Down Exit 43 by Harriet Goodwin in the ‘Book I Couldn’t Put Down’ category, FIT won the top prize and then the Book Of The Year!

'It was incredibly exciting to go to the Blue Peter studios in Television Centre and meet the presenters and the dogs and cats,' says Ali.

'The studio is really big and full of clever camera gadgets which swoosh about to get those amazing tracking shots. Joel and Andy were there (Helen is still kayaking through the Amazon) and were great fun. I had a tonne of make-up put on me as I'm so pale, and then, basically, just had to collect my lovely shiny award and smile a lot.

'I had a Blue Peter badge put on my jacket in no time at all - a moment I will treasure. Ever since my brother and sister got one for doing a brilliant poster in the 1980s I've wanted one too!

'Harriet Goodwin and Frank Cotterell-Boyce's books are both excellent - I've read them - so I was even more thrilled to be the winner. Pheeeeew. Need to lie down under a damp flannel for a couple of days now...'
