BBC NEWSREADER MEETS MONSTERS
Laura Trant is a BBC reporter who helps save the day when alien hunters threaten to ruin Jack and Lewis’ magically meaded world of TAURS and MITES.
And Laura Trant is REAL. You can see her reading the news most weeks on BBC TV South. A good friend of Ali’s since they worked together on BBC Radio, Laura is also a huge Monster Makers fan and was thrilled to be written into the book.
‘To actually read about myself in her latest story was a completely bizarre experience – and that’s because she was so spot on!’ said Laura, when Spacemite came out in May 2009.
‘I laughed when I read that I fell backwards into a flower bed with shock, because yes, this is something I would probably do!
‘As for my character – well, Ali doesn’t miss a thing. It’s an honour to have my personality in print, but I did have to put my trust in her.
‘And knowing her imagination I’m just thankful she didn’t decide to turn me into a wicked witch or malicious monster!’
Look out for Laura on BBC 1 in the South.
