Dear Ali

Hi. I wrote to you a couple of years back saying how much I loved the Shapeshifter books and I wondered if you were making a film out of any one of them. Well, I’m back and nothing’s changed….I still love your books and I’m reading them over and over and over again…..I can’t grow out of them.

But one thing is still bothering me. Have you had anything on the films yet because I would love to see the first Shapeshifter as a film and they could go like one film for every book!

This is a question I get nearly every day - when will Shapeshifter end up as a series of movies? Honest answer? I have no idea. I can say there has been 'interest' from Hollywood but there are no firm plans just yet.

I wouldn't rule it out - but there's really no telling if or when. So if you happen to bump into Steven Spielberg, you know what to say... :-)

Dear Ali

I am 13 and I LOVE YOUR BOOKS. I went to the library to find something to read, I didn’t think I would find anything worth reading after the Twilight series but I was definitely wrong. I read the fourth book in the Shapeshifter series and it was so good. Usually when you read a book in the series it loses you completely but this one didn’t. I always try to guess at endings to stories because sometimes they were so obvious. However, you caught me completely off guard and I love that.

I always write stories non-stop and I have a whole load on my computer. I see many adventures for Dax and his friends and I just have to write them down onto my computer. I never show anyone though, they are strictly forbidden. I am so happy to see that there are going to be more books in the series.

P.S. The Shapeshifter books definitely beat the Twilight saga and they should definitely be made into a movie soon :D

I LOVE that you're carrying on with the COLA's adventures in your own time and imagination. There's some really top stuff on the FanFiction website. Have a look at it and you may feel like adding yours. It's all good practice for when you create your own characters from scratch.

Hi Ali

Whenever I start reading a good book, I know whether it’s my type of book and on the first sentence of Running the risk – I started on that one – I was hooked.

Then I read the first, then third, fourth and fifth. And ALL of them were brilliant! I had a lump in my throat and was crying in the fifth one. You write the books in such a way that I AM Dax (Incidentally, where did the name Daxus come from?). I get pain in my arms in the fourth book, and I can feel Dax’s grief.

I also noticed that on your website, everyone is talking about a sequel, but why not do a prequel about what happens to the Quorat to make it the Quorat? This is probably a spoiler but oh well. Prequels always give stories a little extra.

P.S. Don’t make a film of it, it’ll down grade the books, unless it's a brilliant film. An animation MIGHT possibly be better, but I doubt it.

Well there IS a sort of prequel to Shapeshifter now, in MIGANIUM (see the Home Page). And DAXESH is a name I saw on the certificate on the wall of my local pharmacy. The pharmacist is called Daxesh Patel although people call him Dax, and I loved his first name so much I stole it! He knows and he doesn’t mind…
